United Metal Fabricators, Inc. was founded in 1955 by Joseph Romano, Sr. in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. UMF initially produced specialty furniture for a few select customers. However, through his contacts in the medical industry, Mr. Romano positioned UMF as a leader and innovator and demand quickly grew for UMF products.
UMF is best known for its examination room tables. The UMF 5100 series “box table” has set the industry standard for decades. Today the product offering includes more than 200 catalogued items including basic exam tables, power procedure tables, pediatric exam tables, modular cabinets, narcotic lockers, mobile cabinets, mayo stands, stools, and a large assortment of stainless steel furniture and accessories.
UMF utilizes a network of independent sales representatives covering the continental United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico to promote and sell its products. Additionally, one representative is exclusively responsible for international sales.
UMF is also a partner with several of the top U.S. medical distributor group purchasing organizations.
